Seventh Grade Girls Finish Hoops Season With 9-4 Mark

An impressive six-game winning streak late in the season helped the Scotland County seventh grade girls basketball team finish the year with a 9-4 record.

Points were hard to come by in the season opener as the Lady Tigers fell to Clark County 17-6.

The Lady Tigers rebounded with a 37-13 win over Schuyler County. Loren Smith led the way with 13 points while Cali Holt contributed 12 points and Lexi Drummond added four.

For the second time in three games, Clark County held the Lady Tigers to single digits in a 31-8 defeat on November 7th.

SCR-I evened its record at 2-2 with a hard-fought 13-9 victory against Knox County. Holt had six points in the win.

A fourth-period rally fell short on November 10 as Kirksville bested SCR-I 27-21 despite eight points each from Smith and Holt.

The Lady Tigers got back to .500 with a 24-14 win over Schuyler County. Abby Clatt led all scorers with seven points while Courtney Jackson chimed in with four points.

Putnam County could not match the SCR-I firepower on November 16 as the Lady Tigers prevailed 38-20. Holt had 12 points while Elizabeth Duzan and Kala Childress each added four points.

Canton was the next victim as SCR-I traveled to the river town and knocked off the Tigers 25-18 behind a game-high seven points from Jackson.

The winning streak went to four games courtesy of a 31-25 win over Knox County. Holt paced the offense with 14 points while Smith and Clatt combined for 11 points.

Canton faired little better in a rematch on December 4th. Scotland County won 34-24 as Holt scored 14 points and Clatt finished with 12. Kiley Frazier and Jackson also got into the scorebook in a balanced attack.

A 36-19 victory over Putnam County made it six in a row for Scotland County. Holt finished with 12 points while Clatt had eight and Smith added six.

Kirksville ended the streak at six on December 8th by besting SCR-I 22-16.

Holt poured in 16 first-half points as the Lady Tigers routed Schuyler County 32-6.

The season ended on December 18 with a 40-1 loss to Clark County.
