Filing For April Election Closes January 16th

With just over a week remaining in the filing period, the ballots for the upcoming April election are shaping up with a number of races.

In the City of Memphis, Alderman Ron Gardner will have opposition. Former Alderman William Reckenberg has filed for the office to run against the incumbent.

Interim City Marshal John Myers has filed to seek the remaining three years of the term of Marshal Steve Snodgrass who resigned in January. Former police officer Chris Van Hoozen has also filed for the job.

Otho Harbur is the lone candidate to file for the West Ward Alderman position. Incumbent Lucas Remley had not re-filed as of press time.

Filing will close on Tuesday, January 16 at 5:00 p.m.

The race for two seats on the Scotland County R-I Board of Education remains crowded. Five candidates have filed for the two seats. Incumbents David Kirkpatrick and Doug Shalley have re-filed along with Doug Byrn, Stacey Alexander and Rich Rader.

A number of other local races will be finalized when filing closes January 16th.
