Patrol To Perform Local Special Traffic Enforcement Programs

Captain John W. Elliott, Commanding Officer of Troop B, Macon, announced that Troop B officers will be conducting six, eight-hour Special Traffic Enforcement Programs (S.T.E.P.) during January and February 2007.

During these enforcement programs, extra officers will be patrolling six specific Troop B counties in an effort to detect hazardous moving violations that contribute to traffic crashes.

The counties involved include: Clark, Knox, Lewis, Monroe, Scotland, and Shelby.

Each of these programs is made possible from funding received from the Missouri Department of Transportation’s Blueprint for Safer Roadways Coalition.

“We appreciate the partnership with the Missouri Department of Transportation and we believe enforcement programs such as these are effective in reducing traffic crashes,” stated Captain Elliott. “Driving is a full time job and we ask motorists to drive safely, obey speed limits, and always wear their seat belts.
