Former Gorin Resident Killed In Crash Near Wayland

A former Gorin resident was killed January 19th in a two-vehicle accident in Clark County.

David J. Davis, Jr., 39, of Kahoka, was pronounced dead by Clark County coroner Ed Wilson at 6:35 a.m. at the scene of the crash on Highway 136 four miles east of Wayland.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred when a 1995 Chevrolet S-10 pickup driven by Lee E. Scott, 34, of Clayton, IL, was eastbound on Highway 136. The truck crossed the center line and struck the westbound 1996 Chevrolet Corsica driven by Davis, head on. Davis was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Scott suffered serious injuries and was life flighted from the scene by Air Evac helicopter to Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL. According to the patrol crash report, summons are pending.

The patrol was assisted at the scene of the crash by the Clark County Sheriff’s Department, Clark County Ambulance Service and the Clark County Rescue Squad.

Davis, Jr. was a graduate of Scotland County R-I High School and a resident of Scotland County until 2004 when he and his family moved to Kahoka. A full obituary can be found inside this issue on Page 5.
