Basketball Squads To Travel To Moberly For District Play

It will be a coin toss to see what Scotland County fans will be grumbling about most regarding the upcoming 2007 district basketball playoffs, the drive all the way to Moberly Area Community College, or the unbelievably difficult competition that will be waiting there for SCR-I.

Missouri Class 2 District # 6 playoffs will feature four nights of hoops action to be played on the MACC campus in Moberly, beginning Monday February 26th with the first round girls’ games.

Scotland County received the fifth seed in the tournament and will have to take on #4 seeded Salisbury. The game will tip off at 6:00 p.m.

Monday’s first game will pit second seed Canton versus the seventh seeded Milan. That’s right. Canton, the #2 ranked team in the state of Missouri in Class 2, will play second fiddle in the district.

That is because the state’s top ranked team in Class 2, Westran, earned the top seed. And will face off against 8th seeded Knox County at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.

The final game of the night has #3 Marceline vs. #6 Paris at 9:00 p.m.

The boys first round will be played Tuesday, February 27th.

Scotland County received the #3 seed and will take on Westran, the #6 seed, at 6:00 p.m.

The first game of the evening has #4 Knox County vs. #5 Canton at 4:30 p.m.

After the Tigers’ game, top seeded Salisbury, the 4th ranked team in Missouri Class 2, will take on Milan, the #8 seed, at 7:30 p.m.

The final game of the night will feature #2 Paris vs. #7 Marceline.

All four semifinal games are set for Thursday, March 1st.

A first round win for the Lady Tigers would mean SCR-I would play the winner of Westran and Knox County at 4:30 p.m.

If the Tigers prevail in the first round they would play the winner of the Paris vs. Marceline contest in a semifinals match-up that will tip off at 9:00 p.m.

The girls’ championship game will be played at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 3rd with the boys’ contest to follow.
