Soil and Water Meeting Set For March 8th
The Scotland County Soil and Water Conservation District will hold their Annual Meeting on Thursday, March 8th at the V.F.W. Hall in Memphis.
The meeting will start at 10:00 a.m. with registration, coffee, and donuts.
The morning program will feature NRCS and SWCD personnel with updates on programs available to landowners in the county.
Tom Deberry, retired RC&D Coordinator will have a presentation and slide show of his African Safari hunting trip. Tom went to Africa in 2005. He has many pictures and fabulous mounts. Tomís mounts are on display at the Community Bank of Memphis. This part of the program you will not want to miss.
The local FFA students and advisor, Leroy Corder will be at the meeting with their Parliamentary Team, and three students giving contest speeches. Each year the district sponsors an essay contest and the winners will be announced at the meeting. The Community Bank of Memphis will present the 2007 Conservation Poster contest winners with their cash awards. The Scotland County Soil District will provide a free lunch to all who attend. The Scotland County Choir will entertain after lunch.
The afternoon program will start at 1:00 with Scott Brassfield, a local taxidermist, from Memphis. Scott will talk about how he prepares and mounts different types of trophy animals.
The Clark B. Ewing Conservation $300.00 Memorial will be given away to a landowner 50 years and younger. The day will end with a drawing for door prizes.
