Sheriffs’ Vehicles Involved In Crash in Kirksville

A pair of sheriff’s vehicles were taken out of commission in a chain-reaction accident in Kirksville at 5:49 p.m. on Monday, March 12th.

According to the Kirksville Police Department the accident occurred in the 3600 block of North Baltimore Street (Highway 63). The sheriff’s vehicles were not in service at the time of the accident.

A 1998 Chevrolet pickup was being driven northbound on Highway 63 by Terry L. Gillum, 52, of Unionville. Gillum was attempting to make a left-hand turn onto Brewington to travel west.

A 1998 Ford, driven by Schuyler County Sheriff Don Bruner, stopped behind Gillum’s vehicle.

A third pickup, a 2003 Ford driven by Scotland County Sheriff Wayne Winn, failed to stop and struck the Bruner vehicle, pushing it into the Gillum truck.

Both Winn and Bruner were transported by the Adair County Ambulance District to Northeast Missouri Regional Medical Center.

The Scotland County Sheriff’s truck was totaled in the accident.

Winn was cited for careless and imprudent driving.
