National Wild Turkey Federation Chapter Hosting Local Fund Raising Banquet

Help support wild turkey conservation and have a great time by attending the Hunting Heritage Super Fund Auction and Dinner, hosted by the Lake Show-Me Longbeards Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation. This event will be held April 28, 2007 at the VFW Hall in Memphis. The doors open at 5:30p.m., so you can enjoy social hour before you sit down for a delicious meal.

All ticket holders will be eligible to win valuable prizes exclusive to NWTF events. Place the highest bid and you could go home with sporting art, hunting guns, knives, calls, outdoor equipment and more.

Your ticket to fun at the Lake Show-Me Longbeards Chapterís Annual Hunting Heritage Super Fund banquet is $45.00. Your membership will help the NWTF support wildlife management on public, private and corporate lands and preserve hunting as a traditional North American sport.

In 1973, when the NWTF was founded, there were an estimated 1.3 million wild turkeys and 1.5 million turkey hunters. Thanks to the work of wildlife agencies and the NWTFís many volunteers and partners, today there are nearly 7 million wild turkeys and almost 3 million turkey hunters. Since 1985, the NWTF and its cooperators have spent more than $202 million upholding hunting traditions and conserving more than 9 million acres of wildlife habitat.

The NWTF is a nonprofit organization with more than 500,000 members in 50 states and 16 foreign countries. It supports scientific wildlife management on public, private and corporate lands as well as wild turkey hunting as a traditional North American sport.

The Lake Show-Me Longbeards have also awarded two scholarships to area graduating seniors.

Scholarship information and applications can be found at the groupís website, nwtf.org.

In addition, the chapter applied for, and was awarded a grant to purchase a Promatic 275 ATA trap thrower for use by the local FFA trap team, as well as other area shooters.

If you want to join the nationís fastest growing and most progressive single species conservation organization today, reserve your tickets today by calling Dorsey Swearingen (660) 892-4596, Tom Coffrin (660) 465-2443, or Chris Forquer (660) 465-2987.
