Hunt Hired as New Swimming Pool Manager

With Memorial Day weekend looming, the City of Memphis announced the municipal pool will be under new management in 2007. Tonya Hunt will be at the helm of the recreational center when the traditional opening weekend rolls around in May.

The city council voted 4-0 to offer the position to Hunt, who currently is teaching for the Wyaconda School District.

Brenna Cook, who served as the pool manager in 2006, after replacing longtime director Karla Matlock, withdrew her name for consideration for the post because she will be attending graduate school this summer.

The council also hired Steve Beeler at the special meeting. Beeler fills the newly created parks maintenance position, a seasonal job created to help maintain the parks and other city property.
