Wyaconda Woman Arrested For Drug Theft at Care Center

A Wyaconda woman has been arrested on charges of stealing drugs from the Scotland County Care Center.

Police Chief John Myers reported the arrest of Christy E. Eslinger, 27. She is being housed in the Clark County Detention Center on $50,000 cash bond.

Eslinger was arrested on April 16. She faces seven counts of theft of a prescription-controlled substance and seven counts of possession of a controlled substance.

The arrest marked the culmination of several months of investigation by the Memphis Police Department and the North Missouri Drug Task Force. The investigation started with reports of a missing prescription controlled substance (Hydrocodone pills) from the nursing home.

“These types of investigations involving care facilities can be extremely difficult without the diligence of professionals and the cooperation of the administration and staff, which in this case involved, but was not limited to Kathy Smith and Shelly Girardin,” said Myers.
