Memphis Man Seriously Hurt in Fatal Crash in Knox County
An Edina man was killed and a Memphis man was seriously injured in a two-vehicle accident on Route J, four miles north of Hurdland in Knox County. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol the accident occurred at 4:45 p.m. on Monday, August 27th.
Scott A. Childress, 50, of Edina, was pronounced dead by Dr. Charles Zeman at 6:18 p.m. at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.
According to the Patrol, Childress was driving a 2005 Chevrolet when he attempted to turn onto Route J to head south. His vehicle was struck by a northbound 2005 Dodge driven by Eric J. Probst, 20, of Memphis.
Probst was taken by Knox County Ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia with serious injuries. Childress was transported to the Kirksville hospital where he later died from his injuries.
The Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Knox County Sheriff’s Department, Knox County Fire & Rescue and the Knox County Ambulance Service.
