Milton To Host Fall Festival September 7th – 9th

The late summer festival schedule has Milton, Iowa in the spotlight this weekend. The neighboring community to the north will be hosting the Milton Fall Festival September 7-9. This year’s theme is “On the River with Tom & Huck.”

All the events will be held in the Milton City Park and the Milton downtown area. Proceeds from the festival go to the Milton Activities Committee for community improvement.

Friday night’s agenda includes the crowning of Miss Milton and Junior Miss Milton as well as the prince and princess of the festival. There will be a look-a-like contest for characters best resembling Mark Twain’s infamous Tom Sawyer, Huck Finn and Becky Thatcher.

Food service will begin at 5:00 p.m. that night with the first contest slotted to start at 6:00 p.m. The musical entertainment will get underway at 8:00 p.m.

Saturday’s schedule starts with the Legion breakfast from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Registration and assembly for the parade starts at 9:30 a.m. with the event kicking off at 11:00 a.m.

The Legion post will host a flag retirement burning service at 11:30 with the Lion’s Club games set to open at noon.

The afternoon will feature a baby contest, a pet contest as well as a spelling bee and CO2 car races. Guests will also be able to participate in bingo and a cake walk while enjoying local entertainment. A raffle drawing will be held at 6:00 p.m. before the live entertainment opens up the street dance at 7:00 p.m.

The weekend will close out with a community church worship service at 11:00 a.m. followed by a carry-in dinner.
