Bible Grove to Host 7th Annual Rodeo

by Calla Davis

Get out your boots and dust off your cowboy hat because it is time for the 7th Annual Bible Grove Rodeo to be held September 21st - 22nd.

Every year the Bar B Saddle Club and D Bar D Rodeo Company gears up for the annual rodeo in Bible Grove. The club spends all year securing sponsors and holding events to make this rodeo a reality. The event is all set with the last minute detail being attended to.

There is never a shortage of contestants for the rodeo, which draws a crowd of around 300 spectators, as this is a three association sanctioned event. The rodeo is sanctioned by the United Rodeo Association (URA), Missouri Rodeo Cowboy Association (MRCA) and the Iowa Rodeo Cowboy Association (IRCA). Being one of the last rodeos of the season, cowboys and cowgirls sign on hoping to get the last of the points they need to qualify for the finals. Spectators will not only catch sight of some of their local favorites but also some top money winners from all three associations.

D Bar D Rodeo Company is not new to the rodeo business. They have been supplying the stock for the Bible Grove rodeo for the last six years. They perform rodeos and bull buck outs all over the Midwest. One bull owned by D Bar D Rodeo Co., Cajun Kid was voted Bull of the Year by the Bull Riders of America three years in a row. Doc Hollywood has some screen sizzle, as a Professional Bull Riders bull, hes been on TV.

The saddle club will also be holding raffles both nights. There will be boot raffle for a pair of boots donated by Coffrins Shoe Store. The drawing will be Saturday night. There is also a raffle for a quilt donated by Barb Johnson. There will be some great food from the kitchen on Friday and Saturday and after the rodeo stay and dance with the Real Outlaw DJ, P.T. Woods.

The saddle club will also have some rodeo T-shirts available for sale at the rodeo. If you would like to order one, call any club member.

Tickets are available at the gate for $8.00 for adults, $5.00 for ages 6-14 and 5 and under will be free.

Come out and spend the night watching some great entertainment with your friends, neighbors and family.
