Memphis Couple Arrested in Van Buren County
The discovery of an active methamphetamine lab in the rural Keosauqua, Iowa, area has landed two Memphis residents in jail.
The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department discovered the meth lab after a deputy noticed a strong odor coming from a residence located at 22002 Highway 2. The deputy was on a routine patrol when the discovery was made at approximately 1:00 a.m. Further review of the site led the sheriff’s department to seek a search warrant for the property.
At approximately 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 3rd, officers from the sheriff’s department, the Southeast Iowa Drug Task Force and the Iowa Department of Narcotics Investigation served the warrant at the property. Authorities seized several items commonly used to manufacture meth.
Charged in the incident were Brandon L. Hatfield, 23 and Krystal A. Addison, 21.
Both were transported to the Van Buren County Jail. They have been charged with possession of precursors for manufacturing of meth, a Class D felony and conspiracy to manufacture meth, a Class C felony.
