Chancellor Headlines Guest List For Local Mizzou Rally

The University of Missouri is coming to Memphis. The flagship of the four University of Missouri system schools isn’t relocating from Columbia to northeast Missouri, but the school’s boss will be coming to town for a special visit.

Dr. Brady Deaton, Chancellor of the University of Missouri, will be the feature speaker at a Mizzou booster rally to be held at Keith’s Café in Memphis at noon on Monday, October 29th.

MU Alumni Dr. Harlo Donelson has been bringing Mizzou representatives to Scotland County for several years. Past guests have included Coach Gary Pinkle.

“But this year we are getting the boss,” Donelson said. “I hope folks realize what an honor this is and come out to meet the chancellor and the rest of our guests.”

Deaton, who has been the Mizzou Chancellor since 2004, will be joined by Mizzou Athletic Director Mike Alden; the Voice of the Tigers, broadcaster Mike Kelly; Michael D. Ouart, Vice Provost and Director of University of Missouri Extension; and Josh Murray, Assistant Director Media Relations for the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.

Alden, who is entering his 10th year as the school’s AD, and Kelly, who has been doing Mizzou basketball and football broadcasts for nearly 20 years, are both regulars on what is becoming an annual visit to Memphis.

The Mizzou group will be the guests of honor at a luncheon at Keith’s Café. The community is invited to join the fun.

“Come out to Keth’s and join us for lunch,” Donelson said. “We will be ordering off the menu, so plan on a good meal and learning lots about the University of Missouri from our esteemed guests.”
