Stolen Vehicle Recovered After Armed Robbery Arrest

An armed robbery investigation in Rock Island, IL, ended in a pair of arrests and in the recovery of a vehicle stolen from Memphis last week.

The Memphis Police Department reported a 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier was stolen on Monroe Street in front of the Wallace W. Gillespie Post #4958 of the VFW in Memphis on Wednesday, October 24th. The vehicle, which is owned by Jody and Kathy Small, was taken between 10:30 p.m. and 11:20 p.m. that evening while the owner was working at the club.

During the investigation, officers identified a pickup parked near the crime scene as a vehicle that had been reported stolen from a Lowe’s parking lot in Moline, IL, on October 23rd at approximately 5:30 p.m.

Moline law enforcement officials indicated two suspects were seen on the store’s security videotape commandeering the vehicle. A white male and a black female were shown on tape stealing the 1990 Chevy truck that was found in Memphis.

The car stolen from Memphis, was recovered by the Rock Island Police Department after officers surrounded a residence and took into custody two suspects in an armed robbery that had occurred in the Quad Cities area.

The two suspects are currently in custody in Rock Island where numerous charges are pending. They also face charges related to the auto thefts in Moline and Memphis.
