Munzlinger to Host Meeting Between Farmers, MoDOT
Jefferson City – To help educate farmers about safely operating vehicles, Representative Brian Munzlinger, R-Williamstown, is teaming up with the Missouri Department of Transportation to host a free agricultural transportation seminar December 6 at 6:30 p.m. at the Comfort Inn in Canton.
“An active farmer myself, I understand today’s farmer wears many hats, with responsibilities including producer, conservationist and often, large vehicle operator,” Rep. Munzlinger said. “Many are surprised to learn they are required to follow certain transportation regulations, and we hope this seminar will help increase awareness.”
Experts from MoDOT’s motor carrier services division and Missouri Highway Patrol’s commercial vehicle enforcement will educate attendees about which, if any, freight carrier laws apply to their operation. They will provide tips about operating across state lines and hauling extra-wide, tall or heavy loads to help farmers avoid penalties for violations.
