Holiday Crash Claims Life of Kahoka Woman

Tragedy struck November 20th for a local family. A Kahoka woman on her way home from college for the Thanksgiving holidays was killed in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 136, one mile east of Bethany at 12:10 p.m.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Abigail L. Scott, 21, was eastbound in a 1994 Ford when the vehicle crossed the centerline. The car traveled off the north side of the roadway, overcorrected returning to the roadway where it struck head on a westbound 1998 Peterbilt driven by Michael W. Grable, 28, of Troy, KS.

Scott was transported to Harrison County Community Hospital by the NTLA Ambulance Service. She was pronounced dead at 12:53 by Dr. Matu Patel.

The Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Troop A Crash team, Harrison County Sheriff’s Department, Bethany Police Department and the NTLA Ambulance Service.

Scott, the reigning Miss Northeast Missouri, is the daughter of Mike and Sue Scott, owners of the Kahoka Media and Edina Sentinnel newspapers that serve northeast Missouri.
