Elba (Cob) Pipes, 94, of Memphis, MO, passed away December 26, 2006, at the Scotland County Memorial Hospital in Memphis, MO.

Elba was born June 24, 1912 in Green City, MO, the son of Herman and Emma (Majors) Pipes.

He was united in marriage to Bernice Shepler of Rutledge, MO, and to this union two children were born, Dennis (Buddy) Pipes and Terry Lynn Pipes.

In July of 1945 in Chicago, IL, he married Violet Hustead.

He was employed by the Canteen Company in Chicago, IL, for 25 years. Following his retirement they moved to Kirksville, MO, and later to Memphis, MO. He was an avid card player.

Mr. Pipes is survived by his son, Dennis and his wife, Betty of Mesa, AZ; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and his longtime friend, John Matlock of Memphis, MO.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a daughter, Terry Lynn, two brothers, and two sisters.

Graveside services were held January 2, 2007, at the Pauline Cemetery at Rutledge, MO, with Russell Otte officiating.

An expression of sympathy may be made to the Scotland County Nutrition Site at Memphis, MO, in memory of Elba (Cob) Pipes.

Memorials may be left at or mailed to the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1, Edina, MO 63537.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, Edina, MO.
