STEPHEN MICHAEL AYLWARD br> (12/23/1981 – 1/31/2007)

Stephen Michael Aylward, 25, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Jackson, MN, on January 31, 2007.

Born December 23, 1981, in Kirksville, MO, he was the beloved son of Earl and Mary Lee (Speer) Aylward.

The family moved from Memphis, MO, to Jackson, MN, in September of 1986. Stephen attended Jackson Public Schools and graduated from Jackson High School in 2000. He was a student at Minnesota West taking online classes to get his AA degree.

Stephen enjoyed most sports. He especially loved playing golf, hunting, fishing, watching football and the St. Louis Cardinals with his dad. He enjoyed challenging his mother to a game of Scrabble, bowling, or miniature golf. He considered his parents to be his best friends. He was an avid Scrabble player, beating almost everyone who challenged him to a game. He played online Literal and visited with people all over the world. He enjoyed collecting rocks and hats from everywhere he went. For the last year, he had been a part of the Lee’s Tae Kwon Do Association, working up to his Green Belt. He had a special bond with this unique group of friends and was known to them as Mr. Stevo. Stephen loved life and people, and touched many people with his friendliness, his smile and his jokes. He wasn’t afraid to let people know he loved them. Also, important to him were his pets, his cat, Tooty, and his dog, Bernie.

Stephen loved the Lord, and was a faithful member of the Worthington Christian Church, having been baptized at a young age by his father. He enjoyed participating in Sunday School and Church, and during the summer was a member of the church softball team. He was compassionate and loyal to his family and friends. He was a special buddy to his nieces and nephews and was affectionately called Uncle. He cherished his family, and they cherished him.

Stephen is survived by his parents, Earl and Mary Lee Aylward of Jackson, MN; two sisters, Emily White and husband, Jared of Maple Grove, MN, and Sarah Grimmius and husband, Tony of Jackson, MN; two nieces, Hailey Grimmius and Hannah White; two nephews, Nicholas White and Kasey Grimmius; his grandmother, Marjorie Aylward of Memphis, MO, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends,

Stephen was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Lee Aylward; and his maternal grandparents, Dee and LaVonne Speer.
