VERA KATHLEEN SNYDER
(1/17/1912 – 2/16/2007)



Vera Kathleen Snyder, 95, of Canton, IL, formerly of Memphis, MO, passed away February 16, 2007, at the Heartland Health Care Center at Canton, IL.

Kathleen was born on January 17, 1912, in Scotland County, MO, the daughter of Omer and Violet Childress Caine.

She married Emory Snyder on November 28, 1931, in Memphis, MO. To this union three children were born.

Kathleen was a longtime resident of Memphis, MO, a member of the Presbyterian Church in Memphis and was involved in the women’s club and all of the church activities as long as her health permitted. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Surviving relatives include two daughters, Mary Jane Watson and husband, Paul of Canton, IL, and Jean Daggs and husband, Larry of Montrose, IA; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Peggy Bowen of Spokane, WA, and Juanita Doll of Willits, CA.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Emory; her son, James William; a sister, June Aker; sister-in-law, Edna Kennett and an infant great-granddaughter.

Memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church or the Heartland Health Care Center and can be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison, Memphis, MO 63555.

Funeral services were held on February 19, 2007, at the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO, with Rev. Charles McCracken officiating. Musicians were Connie Courtney, organist, and Harlo Donelson, soloist. Pallbearers were Gary Briggs, Gary Scott, George Koontz, Norris Gaffney, Joe Tom Walker, Roy Monroe, and Chad Triplett. Interment was in the Dover Cemetery, Scotland County, MO.
