RONALD FRANKLIN GOODIN
(4/10/1931 - 12/11/2001)



Ronald Franklin Goodin, 70, of Downing, MO, passed away at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, MO, on May 25, 2007.

The son of Claude and Ina Mae (Phillips) Goodin, he was born on November 7, 1936 in rural Lancaster, MO.

On May 23, 1986 in Murfreesboro, TN, he was united in marriage to Peggy Sue Leamons.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Goodin of Downing, MO; his children, James Goodwin of Hot Springs, AR, Donald Goodin and wife, Loretta of Hot Springs, AR, Jonathan Goodin and wife, Kelly of Hot Springs, AR, Peggy Jackson and husband, Edwin of Hot Springs, AR, Elisa Goodin of Downing, MO, and Tamra Roberts of Queen City, MO; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Claude Richard Goodin and wife, Helen of Kalona, IA; one sister, Barbara Jacob and husband, James of San Diego, CA; nieces and nephews and other family members and many friends.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Robert “Moe” Goodin, Delbert Goodin, Charles Dean Goodin, and Donald Goodin, and one sister, Helen Marie Sorensen.

Ronald enlisted in the United States Navy as a seaman recruit on March 12, 1956 in Schuyler County, MO, and was honorably discharged on April 10, 1956 in Great Lakes, IL. He was a member of the Scotland County VFW Post #4958 and the American Legion of Hannibal, MO. He was self-employed as a plumber.

Funeral services were held on May 29, 2007s at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, MO with Sonny Smyser, pastor of the Methodist Church of Lancaster, MO officiating. Pallbearers were Claude Goodin, James Jacob, James Goodin, Danny Reese, David Farmer, and Jonathan Goodin. Honorary pallbearer was Cody Roberts. Memorials have been established for the family. Burial was in the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, MO with military rites provided by the Scotland County VFW, Post #4958. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster, MO.
