WELDON L. TAGUE
(5/13/1922- 5/25/2007)



Weldon L. Tague, 85, of Gorin died May 25, 2007, at his home.

He was born the son of Charles E. and Elsie L. Boltz Tague on May 13, 1922, in Scotland County, near Gorin, MO.

Weldon graduated from Gorin High School in 1941 and operated a gas station in Gorin before serving in the US Army from 1943 to 1945.

He married Demma Tibbs in 1942. She preceded him in death in 1973. To this union were born six daughters, Leona (Mrs. Vernon) Stice of Carl Junction, MO, Sherrill (Mrs. Kenny) Clatt of Gorin, MO, Nancy (Mrs. Larry) Platz of Brashear, MO, Donna (Mrs. Wayne) Bailey of Kirksville, MO, Debra (Mrs. Kenny) Heck of Auxvasse, MO and Diane (Mrs. Gary) Gannon of St. Louis, MO.

Weldon farmed and operated a trucking business before he carried the US Mail on the rural route of Gorin for nearly 30 years.

He was well known for hauling in fresh peaches and melons each summer.

He married Mona Trent Winn on January 12, 1974, and together, they operated the Weldon Tague Iron and Salvage business in Gorin until his death.

Weldon was an active member and elder of the Gorin Christian Church. He also belonged to the American Legion, A.F. & A.M. Lodge of Masons, the Wyaconda Lions Club, and the Land Improvement Contractors Association.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; three brothers, Richard, Jean, and Evert; an infant sister and a grandson, Thearn Treasure.

He is survived by: his six daughters; his wife, Mona and her children, Alana Winn (Mrs. Rex) Chumbley and Rex (wife Jeanette) Winn of Quincy, IL, Dallas (wife Janet) Winn of Winter Haven, FL, and Gary Winn of Clearwater, FL; 23 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Don (Buck) Tague of Gorin, MO, Bruce Tague of Wyaconda, MO, Grace Brown of Memphis, MO, Ruth VanSickle of Edina, MO, Vera Ann Crandal of Alexandria, MO, and Alice Snyder of Rocheport, MO.

Funeral services were held May 29, 2007, in the Gerth Funeral Chapel in Memphis, MO, with Jim Campbell, pastor of the Gorin Christian Church officiating. Special music was provided by Lee Shultz, organist, and vocal music by the Brothers and Sisters Quartet. Serving as pallbearers were his grandsons: Tony Stice, Randy Stice, Alan Erickson, Kyle Platz, Trent Platz, Brent Platz, Danny Clatt, Brennan Robbins, Adam Shaw, Adam Winn, Dustin Winn, Paul Winn, Michael Decker, and Coby Treasure. Burial was in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Gorin, MO with graveside military rites conducted by the Wallace W. Gillespie Memorial V.F.W. Post #4958 of Memphis.

Memorials were suggested to the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Gorin, Hospice of Northeast Missouri, or to the charity or organization of the donorís choice and can be left at or mailed to: Gerth Funeral Service, 115 S. Main, Memphis, MO 63555.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Gerth Funeral Service from its Memphis chapel.
