CAROLYN JANE MEEK
(6/12/1935 - 6/10/2007)



Carolyn Jane Meek, 71, of Memphis, MO, passed away June 10, 2007 after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born June 12, 1935 in Decatur, Illinois the daughter of Robert and Helen Baxter Peterson. She was raised in Decatur by adoptive parents.

In her youth she learned piano which was always one of her greatest loves. After leaving Decatur, she moved to Florida, where she was a certified nursing assistant for over 20 years. She was a devoted Cubs fan and enjoyed all manners of friends. She moved to Memphis in her later years to be near family. She was the mother of one son Kenny.

She was preceded in death by: her father Robert Peterson, brother Dewey Mair, and half-brother Jim Peterson.

Surviving are her son Kenny Mair and special friend Carol Davila of Memphis, MO, half-brothers: Albert Peterson and wife of Gorin, MO, David Peterson of Memphis, MO, half-sister Roberta Mathes of Central, MO, a niece Robin Ferrebee of Decatur, IL.

She is also survived by a close circle of “Family” friends who she loved very much: Patti Baker, Danny Bowen, Carol Dryden, Rick and Teresa Fischer, Robert ‘Train’ Gallagher, Mary Hart, Beverly Talbert, June and Diane, Nancy and Carl Kapfer, Ausha and Trey.

Memorials are suggested to the family, and maybe left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison, Memphis, MO 63555.

Memorial Services will be at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday June 14, 2007 at the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, with Bro. Jack Sumption officiating. Visitation will be Thursday with the family receiving friends from 6:00 till time of service at the Payne Funeral Chapel.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis.
