SARAH MARJORIE (MARGE) POE
(1/11/1930 – 6/26/2007)



Sarah Marjorie (Marge) Poe, 77, of Downing, MO, passed away on June 26, 2007, at the Scotland County Memorial Hospital in Memphis, MO.

The daughter of Everett L. and Charlotte “Lottie” (Groseclose) Kight, she was born on January 11, 1930 in rural Downing, MO.

On November 28, 1948 in Lancaster, MO, Marge was united in marriage to Forest Dale Poe and to this union three children were born, Penny, Debby and Doug.

Marge is survived by her husband, Dale of Downing, MO; her children, Penny Swindler and husband, Steve of Downing, MO, Debby Rayburn and husband, Mike of Bloomfield, IA, and Doug Poe and wife, Julie of Downing, MO; six grandchildren, Kim Beeler and husband, John of Downing, MO, Heather Western and husband, Kevin of Queen City, MO, Carmen McCrea and husband, Jim of Eddyville, IA, Justin Rayburn and wife, Julie of Eureka, IL, Caleb Poe of Downing, MO and Gavin Poe of Downing, MO; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Anna Lee Robinson and husband, Arthur of Loveland, CO; other family members and a host of friends.

Marge was preceded in death by her parents; twin grandchildren; and one brother, Robert (Bob) Kight.

Marge was member of the Coffey Christian Church of Downing, MO. She was a very active member of the Ariel Rebekah Lodge of Downing, MO. Marge and Dale were instrumental in bringing the Share Food Program to Downing, MO.

Marge and Dale supported and were very willing volunteers when needed with the Junior Livestock Show in Queen City, MO, and especially enjoyed the Kiddie Races. They were also very active with the Downing 4-H.

Her joy in life was being a wife, mother, grandmother and spending time with family and friends. She loved to make pies, candy and noodles, but most of all she loved her grandchildren.

Funeral services were held June 29, 2007, at the Downing Christian Church in Downing, MO, with Larry Smith, pastor of the Downing Christian Church officiating. Music was special CD selections. Pallbearers were her grandsons, John Beeler, Kevin Western, Jim McCrea, Justin Rayburn, Caleb Poe, and Gavin Poe. Memorials have been established for the Downing Cemetery. Burial was in the Downing Cemetery in Downing, MO. Arrangements were under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Downing, MO.
