MARILYN ELMA CUNNINGHAM
(6/29/1930 – 8/9/2007)



Marilyn Elma Cunningham, 77, of Memphis, MO, died August 9, 2007 at the Northeast Missouri Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, MO.

She was born June 29, 1930 in rural Davis County, IA, to Frank and Alice Grace Campbell Cortum. She was a graduate of Pulaski High School, Pulaski, IA, Class of 1948. She married Clarence Ray “Sug” Cunningham on November 19, 1949 in Bloomfield, IA. He died November 19, 2002.

Marilyn was a homemaker, a member of Memphis Calorie Counters and affiliated with the Methodist Church. She enjoyed NASCAR racing, traveling with her husband and especially enjoyed her family and family gatherings.

She is survived by her children, Monica Cunningham of Arbela, MO, Alan Cunningham of Memphis, MO, Marjorie Durham, of Arbela, MO and Gary Cunningham of Memphis, MO; grandchildren, James Cunningham, Alta Koser, Rae Ann, Murray, Cyrena Durham, Shane Durham, Travis Durham, Alica Bales, Janessa Matheny, Donica Darland, Dewayne Durham, and Terence Durham; 20 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. Also surviving are a twin sister, Marian Claman of Cantril, IA, and a sister, Helen Hamberg of Williamsburg, IA.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother, Leland Cortum, two sisters Leona Claman and Catherin Songer, and a brother-in-law, Robert Cunningham.

Funeral services were held August 13, 2007 at the Memphis Funeral Home in Memphis, MO, conducted by Rev. Eloise Marx. Burial was in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Cantril, IA.

Active casket bearers were James Cunningham, Aaron Shields, Travis Durham, Ed Koser, Dewayne Durham and William Darland. Honorary casket bearers were Steve Morris, Cone Baker, Shane Durham, Eric Bales, John Matheny, James Dale Baker, Rick Golbricht.
