MYRL G. MOHR
(6/13/1909 – 8/18/2007)



Myrl G. Mohr, 98, of Kahoka, formerly of Wyaconda, died August 18, 2007 at Keokuk (IA) Area Hospital.

She was born the daughter of Frank and Essie Lee (Rector) Suter on June 13, 1909 in Williamstown, MO. Myrl graduated from Gorin High School.

Myrl married Elmer Mohr at Etna in 1935. They celebrated 72 years of marriage on February 17, 2007.

The Mohrs farmed in the Etna area until the 1960’s, when they moved to Wyaconda. Myrl worked in the office of the Morgan Oil Co. until her retirement. She was an active member of the Wyaconda United Methodist Church, attending the monthly Methodist Women’s group at the church. Myrl enjoyed quilting, sewing and crocheting, gardening, reading and word puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Grace Ellington and Wilma Walker.

She is survived by her husband Elmer of Kahoka; her daughter, Margaret Elder of Kahoka; granddaughter, Lou Ann and husband Gerry Odom of Columbia, MO; great grandchildren, Geoffrey, Luke and Patrick Odom of Columbia; two nephews; four nieces; many friends and neighbors.

Funeral services were held August 21, 2007 at the Gerth Funeral Chapel in Wyaconda with Don Sherwood, pastor of the Wyaconda United Methodist Church, and the Rev. Ernest Deatrick officiating. Don Dice, Luke Odom, Geoffrey Odom, Tom Priebe, Kenneth Dieterich, and Wesley Knupp served as pallbearers. Burial was in the Wyaconda Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Wyaconda United Methodist Church and can be left at or mailed to the Gerth Funeral Service, 115 N. Main St., Wyaconda, MO 63474.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Gerth Funeral Service from its Wyaconda chapel.
