RUTH ANITA BRYANT

Ruth Anita Bryant, 84, of Memphis, MO, died August 18, 2007, at the Scotland County Memorial Hospital in Memphis, MO.

She was born in Memphis, MO, on March 24, 1923, the daughter of Howard and Dora Davis.

She was married to Leland Frank Harvey on October 14, 1939. He died overseas in service October 6, 1944. On September 3, 1950, she married Paul E. Bryant. His death occurred on November 19, 1995.

Survivors include five children, Bill Harvey and his wife, Carol of New Berlin, WI, Deanna Dunn of Memphis, MO, Mary Lou Harper and her husband, Richard of Memphis, MO, Judy Gardner and her husband, Ron of Worthington, OH, and Dennis Bryant of Worthington, OH; nine grandchildren, Terri Anderson (Terry) of Iowa City, IA, Kristine Leveille (Pete) of Orlando, FL, Stacie Juhl (Tom) of Bloomfield, IA, Kris Dunn (Angie) of Birmingham, AL, Dana Kapp (Andy) of Clarksdale, MO, Dawn Triplett (Jamie) of Rutledge, MO, Gretchen Gardner of Worthington, OH, Alan Gardner of Worthington, OH, and Rafael Bryant of Worthington, OH; 13 great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Ruth Speer of Memphis, MO, Edith Dochterman of Kahoka, MO, and Mary Davis of Keokuk, IA; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; one son, Leland Frank Harvey, Jr.; her brother, Dick Davis; her son-in-law, Kent Dunn; granddaughter, Sara Gardner; and great-grandchild, Jacob Leveille.

Ruth was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church in Memphis, MO. She was a member of the quilting guild there. She was also a member of Rebekah Lodge for many years. She enjoyed her many friends and family members. Ruth was the first administrator of the Nutrition Site and worked there until retirement. After retirement she continued to deliver meals on wheels for several years.

Memorials may be made to Scotland County Nutrition Center and can be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel at 202 E. Madison, Memphis, MO.

Funeral services were held on August 21, 2007 at the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO, Larry Smith officiating. Musician was Joe Fulk. Pallbearers were Phil Duley, Max Eggleston, Larry Davis, Darrell Harvey, Leon Buford, and John Dochterman, Jr. Interment was in the Lawn Ridge Cemetery, Scotland County, MO. Arrangements were handled by the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO.
