WAYNE MAC SLAVIN

Wayne Mac Slavin, 79, of Downing, MO, died August 28, 2007, in Davis County Hospital, Bloomfield, IA.

Mac was born February 10, 1928, in Scotland County, MO, the son of Henry Earl and Ethel McWilliam Slavin.

He was born and raised, and lived his entire life on the family farm in Scotland County, MO. He attended school in Downing, MO.

Mac served in the World War II the Occupation Army in Germany, and is a long-time member of the VFW Post #4958, Memphis, MO.

Mac was a dedicated farmer. He enjoyed the challenge and work of cultivating, planting, growing, and harvesting crops from the land. He enjoyed the challenge of raising and caring for livestock.

He enjoyed visiting with family and friends in the bits of spare time he had.

Mac was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Ethel; two brothers, Harold T. and Chauncey E. and two sisters, Anna Marie Slavin and Mary Slavin Doss.

Surviving is one brother, Donald L. Slavin of Palmyra, MO; two sisters-in-law, Maxine H. Slavin and Mary H. Slavin; several nephews and nieces, John C. Slavin, John T. Slavin, Daniel L. Slavin, Carol Doss Speer, Nita Slavin Small, Alice Slavin, and Jane Slavin Hurley; and some 13 great-nieces and great-nephews. Mac is also survived by a life-long community of friends, and by his faithful tenant farm helpers, Al and Marie Waddell.

Memorials may be made to the Pleasant Hill Cemetery and may be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison, Memphis, MO 63555.

Funeral services were held August 31, 2007, at the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO, with Dana R. Slavin, M. Div. Pallbearers were John C. Slavin, John T. Slavin, Ralph Small, William D. Hurley, Albert Waddell, and Alvin Holton. Honorary bearers were Paul Holton, Bob Speer, David Stump, and Gerald Kaldenberg. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, rural Scotland County, MO. Military Graveside Rites were provided by Wallace W. Gillespie V.F.W. Post #4958, Memphis, MO. Arrangements are being handled by the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO.
