Wilbur L. Willier, 86, of Lancaster, MO, passed away at the Schuyler County Nursing Home in Queen City, MO, where he had been a resident since September 14, 2007.

The son of Schuyler Albert and Mabel Lillian (Lyons) Willier, he was born on March 23, 1921 in Davis County, IA.

On August 24, 1940, he was united in marriage to H. Maxine Dellinger in Kirksville, MO, and to this union four children were born, Jeanie, Joanne, Jim and Nancy.

Survivors include his children, Joanne Spooner of Lancaster, MO, Jim Willier and wife, Delores of Edina, MO, and Nancy Smoot and husband, Dick of Kirksville, MO; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two cousins, Dillion Lyons of Bloomfield, IA and Velda Howarth of Bloomfield, IA; one sister-in-law, Mary McCullough and husband, Bob of Hurley, IL; many nieces and nephews, and other family members.

“Wib” is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Maxine on January 12, 1999; his daughter, Jeannie Cook on February 12, 2003; Three brothers, Carl Willier in infancy, John Willier and Guy Willier; one sister, Eva Tewes; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Willier and Neoma Willier; and one brother-in-law, Ralph Tewes.

At the age of 19, “Wib” moved to Schuyler County. MO, where he farmed for many years. He also worked road construction running heavy equipment. He was the County Assessor in Schuyler County during 1965 until 1969.

Funeral services were held October 5, 2007 at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, MO, with Sonny Smyser, pastor of the Lancaster United Methodist Church in Lancaster, MO and Ralph Wheeler, pastor of the Church of God Holiness in Kirksville, MO officiating. Pallbearers were Mike Willier, Steve Tewes, Rob Cook, Gerry Willier, Quinten and Marie Smyser, Joe and Elaine Kramer and Sheri Steen. Memorials have been established for the Church of God Holiness in Kirksville, MO. Burial was in the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, MO. Arrangements were under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster, MO.
