DEAN ALLEN SWEDBERG
(2/16/1960 – 10/13/2007)



On February 16, 1960 in Osage, IA, Dean Allen Swedberg was born to Deryl and Pat (Field) Swedberg.

In February 1967, the family moved to Lancaster, MO, where he has since resided. He attended the Schuyler County Schools, where he graduated with the class of 1978. In March, 1980, he graduated from Hawkeye Institute of Technology in Waterloo, IA, with a degree in welding.

On August 13, 1988, he was united in marriage to Brenda Stice Wall at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Queen City, MO. To this union, two sons were born, Dakota Allen and Dusty Allen.

Survivors include his son, Dusty of the home in rural Lancaster, MO and Ashley and Daniel Spurgeon of Downing, MO; two grandchildren, Auralynn and Drake Spurgeon of Downing, MO; parents, Deryl and Pat Swedberg of Lancaster, MO; grandmother, Eunice Field of Charles City, IA; five sisters, Terri and husband, Steve Nelson of Unionville, MO, Lisa and husband, John Dooley of Plainfield, IL, Karmen Buckallew of Glenwood, MO, Diana and husband, Rob Nelson of Lancaster, MO and Kris and husband, Joe Beeler of Columbia, MO; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a world of friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Dakota in April 1989; grandparents, Lyle and Gladys Swedberg and Harry “Doc” Field.

Dean was a member of the NRA, North American Fishing Association, the Chariton River Polo Club and Viking USA Bootheel MO #364.

Dean spent the summers of his high school years with his grandparents on the Mississippi River in Harpers Ferry, IA. He loved the outdoors. He always cherished the times spent hunting and fishing with Dusty and Grandpa Field.

He will be remembered by his love of life, his sense of humor, his smile and the love he had for his family and so many many friends.

Funeral services will be held on October 17, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, MO, with pastors Sonny Smyser and Jeremy McElvain officiating. Music will be special CD selections. Pallbearers will be Jeremy, Scott and Gregory Buckallew, Joshua Dooley, Thad, Joseph and Justice Beeler, Jeremy Whitlock, Andy and Cody Schurman and Keaton “Skeeter” Nelson. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve and Rob Nelson, John Dooley, Joe Beeler and Mickey and Roger Stice. Memorials have been established for his son, Dusty Swedberg. Burial will be in The Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, MO. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster, MO.
