SCR-I Track Teams Finish Fourth at Conference Meet

Both Scotland County track teams brought home fourth place at the annual Tri-Rivers Conference Track Meet.

A number of local athletes earned all-conference honors by finishing first or second in an event.

Jakki Ebert was honored in the discus and Kirsten Johnston finished in the top two in the 800-meter run. Also earning all-conference honors were Kelsey Frazier, Jessica Bair, Megan Westhoff and Johnston in the 4x800 meter relay.

Just missing the honors were Melissa Cotton in the high jump and Johnston in the 1,600-meter run where both girls finished third.

Casey Parrish earned all-conference recognition with a second place showing in the 1,600-meter run. The 4x200 team of Bryce Blomme, Grant Blomme, Matt Wickert and Trey Crow also took second place.

The 4x400 team of Joe Spurgeon, Crow and the Blommes was third as was the 4x100 team of Marcus Shalley, Eric Glass and the Blommes. Bryce Blomme also took third in the 400-meter run.

Travis Bruns finished fifth in the 3,200 meter run and the 4x800 team of Parrish, Nathan Purvis, Ben Wiley and Ryan Auld was fifth.

Purvis took sixth in the 800-meter run while Brandon Garnett was sixth in the 110-meter hurdles and Lance Smith was sixth in the shot put.
