Cardinals Fly By Tigers With Fourth Period Rally

In a season of come-from-behind wins, Scotland County had the tables turned on January 10 as South Shelby rallied from a fourth quarter deficit to knock off the Tigers 57-48.

SCR-I raced out to a 17-10 first period bulge behind six points from Cody Musgrove and five points from Matt Wickert.

Wickert and Grant Blomme hit three pointers in the second period but the offense slowed down a bit allowing South Shelby to trim the deficit to 25-22 at the break.

Grant Blomme hit another three pointer in the third period and had six points in a key stretch that saw SCR-I pull ahead 38-32 with eight minutes to play.

South Shelby’s Matt Patterson brought the Cardinals storming back as he connected on a pair of three pointers and scored 12 of his game-high 27 points down the stretch to send the home team on to the 57-48 win. The Cardinals (7-3) outscored SCR-I 25-10 in the fourth period.

Wickert and Grant Blomme each had 13 points to pace the Tigers (4-7). Musgrove added 10 points.
