Eggleston Picks Up Fifth Win Of Week

Jackie Clark doubled home Kahla Tracy with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Culver-Stockton a 3-2 victory and a sweep of its Heart of America Athletic Conference doubleheader over Avila University at the Cotton Bowl Friday afternoon, April 20th.

The Lady Wildcats took the opener 3-0 as Sara Eggleston earned her 11th victory of the season and her fifth victory of the week, holding the Lady Eagles to two hits while striking out four.

Eggleston also started game two and went six innings before leaving the game with the score tied 2-2. She struck out two and walked one. Rachel Nachtweih pitched a perfect seventh inning and was rewarded with the victory.

In the bottom of the seventh, Tracy opened the inning with a single. Cassie Fischer sacrificed her to second before Clark delivered the game winning hit.

In the first game, Melissa Goehl went 2 for 3 and scored two runs for the Lady Wildcats. Tracy also had two hits and a RBI while Fischer and Carley Thurston also drove in runs for the hosts.

C-SC, now 16-20 overall and winners of eight of its last 10 games, will complete HAAC action with a doubleheader at Baker University on Saturday, April 21, in Baldwin City, KS.
