Golf Team Finishes Fifth at Kirksville Invitational

The Scotland County golf team earned fifth place in the 16-team field at the Kirksville Invitational golf meet on April 21st.

SCR-I finished 15 strokes off the pace in the 18-hole event. The home team Kirksville won the meet with a score of 329. Rock Bridge and Hannibal tied for second at 334 followed by another big school, Hickman at 336.

The Tigers tied for fifth with fellow Tri-Rivers Conference school Brookfield, along with LaPLata and Helias. All four teams carded team scores of 346.

Rounding out the field was Trenton (349), Macon (352), Jefferson City (357), Marshall (358), Moberly (366) Highland (390), the Kirksville JV (393) and Schuyler County (no score).

Joe Spurgeon shot an 81 to lead SCR-I. Andy Cowell carded an 87. Zach McBee and Travis Trueblood both carded rounds of 89 and Matt Wickert had a 90.

Donnie Hansen of LaPlata was the individual medalist with a round of 75. Patrick Anderson of Hannibal shot a 77.
