Show-Me Speedway To Kick Off 2007 Race Season on Saturday
The 2007 go-kart racing season will kick off this Saturday at Show-Me Speedway in Downing. Organizers have planned a special practice session on May 5th for 3:00 p.m. Hot laps will start at 6:00 p.m. with races to follow at 7:00 p.m.
The track will feature racing action in nine different classes. The Rookie division is for drivers ages 5-8. Junior I (ages 9-12) and Junior II (ages 13-16) offer additional options for the youth drivers.
The three stock divisions are designed for drivers age 16 and over and are divided into Lite, Medium and Heavy classes based on the kart weights.
The track also races a 40 and Over class.
New this year, are the Animal Lite and Animal Heavy divisions. This class features the newer style motors.
Organizers made a number of improvements at Show-Me Speedway during the off season. New handicapped accessible bathrooms were constructed and the racetrack now has a new flag stand as well.
Race dates for 2007 are May 5 and 19, June 2, 9, and 30, July 14 and 18, August 11 and August 25, and September 8.
