SCR-I Campus Bowl Team Finishes Seventh at State

The state championship dreams of the Scotland County Campus Bowl team came to an end in the second round of the Missouri Class 2 Academic Competition Championships at Rock Bridge High School in Columbia on May 5th.

Scotland County opened the eight-team event with a first round victory over Tarkio by the score of 205-150.

But the Tigers ran into the eventual state champions, Richmond in the second round and dropped a 395-70 decision.

Scotland County could not rebound from the defeat and bowed out of the competition with a 210 to 145 defeat at the hands of state runner-up College Heights Christian Academy.

At 1-2 overall and with a total of 420 points, SCR-I ranked seventh out of the eight state qualifiers, falling behind South Pemiscot (555 points) and Smithton (440 points) as well as Tarkio, which went 2-1 with 615 total points and advanced as the fourth seed in the final bracket despite the loss to SCR-I.

Iberia finished eighth in the event with a 0-3 record.

Richmond earned the #1 seed with a 3-0 mark and an amazing 1,280 points in the three first round matches. Barstow, was 2-1 and amassed 705 points to earn the second seed. College Heights earned the third seed with a 2-1 record and 685 total points.

Richland knocked off Tarkio 370-155 and Christian Heights edged out Barstow 185-165 in the state semi-finals. Richland then bested College Heights 240-150 in the championship match. Tarkio claimed third with a 255-125 win over Barstow.
