Mother Nature Unkind To Speedway Again

Memphis, MO (May 26) – For the second consecutive week, due to inclement weather, officials at the Pepsi Scotland County Speedway in Memphis, canceled the races for Saturday, May 26.

Racing will continue next Saturday, June 2, with the return of the high-powered USRA Late Models going for a top prize of $3,000. Some of the Late Model drivers expected are Tommy Elston, Gary Wilson, Chad and Chris Simpson, Chris Smyser, Mark Burgtorf, Justin Reed, Robby Warner, Ricky Frankel, Jeff Guengerich, Jeff Aikey, Lynn Monroe and many more.

Also in action will be the USRA Modifieds, USRA Stock Cars, USRA B-Modifieds, USRA Hobby Stocks, Outlaw Hobby Stocks and Hornets battling for supremacy in the USRA Casey’s General Stores Weekly Racing Series.

Gates will open at 5 p.m., with hot laps at 6:30 and racing at 7 p.m.

The Pepsi Scotland County Speedway is located 1.0 mile west of Memphis on US 136 to SR 15, then east (at the Scotland County Fairgrounds).

As of May 19th, Michael Long sits atop the standings in Modified division. The #18 car has amassed 257 points to hold just a three-point margin over the #82M of Ryan Meyer and just five points better then #99 Martin Bennett. Local drivers Bob Dale (12) and Jody Wood (z4) round out the top five in a tie for fourth with 243 points.

The USRA Stock Car lead belongs to Matt Greiner who has picked up 382 points in the #29 car. Troy Alexander is second in points with 365 followed by Mark Holt with 345.

Wyatt Lantz has the #22 car out in front of the B-Modified class with 367 points. Tony Dunker sits in second place with 357 followed by Jack Evans, Jr., with 351 points.

The #16 car of Mike Shelton leads the Hobby Stock class with 353 points. Tim Kraber is a close second with 347 points and Bob Lynch has the 4J in third with 339 points.

The Outlaw Hobby Stock Division is headed up by Jeff Soper. The #43s has 381 points. Riger Dresden’s return to the class has been solid as he sits in second place with 369 points followed by the 4L of Jim Lynch in third with 355 points.

Luke Davidson leads the Hornets class with a total of 386 points. JD Murphy is in second with 351 points.
