NEMO Thunder All-Stars Take 3rd in District Tournament

The District Tournament for 10-year old All-Star boys was held in Brookfield, Missouri the week of July 12th –15th. The NEMO Thunder represented several local communities, taking players from Scotland, Schuyler, Knox and Adair counties.

Tryouts were held on Sunday, June 24th and July 1st. The team then traveled to Brookfield to play in a one-day tournament on Saturday, July 7th, providing an opportunity to play together as a team for the first time before the District Tournament.

The Thunder then traveled back to Brookfield for the first round of play on Thursday, July12th, where the team won their first two games. The team was later knocked out of the tournament on Saturday, July 14th after a loss to Booneville and then Brookfield. The Thunder took home third place in the tournament. There were six teams involved: Mississippi Valley, Macon, Brookfield, Booneville, Marshall and NEMO.

The team consisted of Jarrod Blessing, Ken Hull and Steve Miller as coaches and the players were: William McRobert, Mason “Moose” Van Hoozen, Jacob Hull and Jacob Blessing from Scotland County; Mathew Wheeler, Daniel Haley, Traven Miller and Lane Gray of Schuyler County; Jake Leverton, Ryan Strange and Cederic Boone of Knox County and Nick Harrelson of Adair County.

Coach Blessing commented that he would love to have worked with this team longer, noting that they all have talents in many areas and he hoped to be able to coach them next year.
