Lady Tigers Salvage Tourney Finale With 9-3 Win Over Atlanta

The Scotland County offense came to life in the teamís finale of the Knox County Tournament. After dropping a pair of 4-3 decision in the opening rounds, SCR-I blasted Atlanta 9-3 to close out the event.

Atlanta actually took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but the Hornets left the bases loaded.

After being retired in order in their first at bat, the Lady Tigers batted around in inning number two.

The rally started when Kelly Lister was hit by a pitch. After Valerie Oldham reached on an error, Lacey Jack delivered the first of three Scotland County triples in the inning. She scored on a base knock by Melissa Cotton to make it 3-1. Cotton scored on a three-bagger by Kirsten Johnston. After Tara Matlock reached on an error Deidra Dochterman tripled. She scored when Lister reached on an error to make it 7-1.

SCR-I made it 8-1 in the third inning when Jack reached on an error and came into score on an RBI ground out by Cotton.

Atlanta trimmed the deficit to 8-2 in the fourth but the Lady Tigers added an insurance tally in the bottom of the frame when Dochterman reached on an error and came into score on a triple by Kellyn Wickert.

Lister picked up the victory on the mound. She allowed just two hits, but walked four in her third game of the day. The sophomore hurler struck out five in five innings of work.
