Rams Rout Lady Tigers 15-0 in Non-Conference Softball Action

Facing conference rivals has not been good to the Scotland County softball team thus far in 2007. For the second time SCR-I took on a league rival in a non-conference match and was shutout as Schuyler County blanked the Lady Tigers 15-0 on September 4th in Memphis.

The Rams battered SCR-I in the opening frame, sending 10 batters to the plate en route to a 6-0 lead.

SCR-I threatened in the third inning when Melissa Cotton and Megan Westhoff both reached base with one out. But the Schuyler County errors did not come back to haunt the visitors as SCR-I was unable to push a run across the plate.

Kelly Lister singled in the fourth inning for the Lady Tigers lone base knock off Schuyler County starter Alyssa Greenstreet as the Rams went to 5-0 on the year.

Jackie Roberts homered in the third inning to push Schuyler’s lead to 7-0. The Rams scored three runs in the fourth and five more in the fifth to end the game by the 10-run rule.

The loss drops Scotland County to 2-6 on the season.

SCR-I dropped the junior varsity contest by a final score of 8-2. Aimee Dale was 1-3 with a run scored for the Lady Tigers.

Kaitlin Caldwell took the loss on the mound. SCR-I trailed 2-1 in the fifth inning when the Rams broke through for six runs. Caldwell struck out five in the contest.
