Lady Tigers Go 1-2 at NCMC Softball Tourney

The Scotland County softball team finished the North Central Missouri College softball Tournament with a 1-2 record but held its own against several larger schools on hand for the event Saturday, September 15th in Trenton.

SCR-I dropped the opener 6-1 to Moberly. Kellyn Wickert scored the lone run for Scotland County in the third inning.

The Lady Tigers fell behind Lawson 3-0 but rallied to score four times in the teamís final two at bats to salvage a 4-3 victory.

Deidra Dochterman walked to start the fourth inning. She moved into scoring position on a base hit by Kelly Lister and came home to score on an RBI single by Valerie Oldham.

With one out in the fifth inning, Kirsten Johnston and Tara Matlock reached on base hits. A walk to Dochterman loaded the bases for Lister who delivered a clutch base hit to tie the game at 3-3. Oldham walked to load the bases and then with two outs Wickert worked the pitcher for another base on balls to force in the winning run.

After allowing two hits and two runs in the first inning, Lister settled down to allow just three base runners the rest of the contest, all on walks. She struck out three in the winning effort.

SCR-I had to rally again in the final contest as Odessa jumped on top of the Lady Tigers 3-0.

Scotland County cut into the deficit with a pair of tallies in the fourth inning. Oldham doubled to start the rally. She scored on a base hit by Wickert who made it 3-2 when she crossed the plate on a bases loaded walk to Johnston.

But Odessa got out of the jam and went on to the 4-2 victory.
