Dochterman, Oldham Named to District 12 All-Star Team
A pair of Scotland County softball players earned post –season recognition when the Missouri Class 2 District 12 All District team was announced by the district coaches last week.
First baseman Diedra Dochterman and outfielder Valerie Oldham were selected as among the best players in the district at their positions.
Oldham, a junior, was featured in a talented outfield crew that included Putnam County’s Brittany Casady (senior) and Brandy Shultz (sophomore) along with Schuyler County’s Kaitlin Stump (sophomore).
The infield was equally as impressive, featuring conference MVP Tara Verkuilen, and a pair of representatives from the district championship squad from Unionville in juniors Katie Steele and Hilary Mason. Rounding out the all district infield were Kassidy Shuman (senior) of Clark County and Jessica Murfin (sophomore) from Highalnd.
Jackie Roberts, a senior from Schuyler County, and Tessa Casady, a senior from Putnam County were honored at the catcher position.
All-district pitchers were Stacy Hines, a junior from Putnam County; Alyssa Greenstreet, a junior from Schuyler County; Sam Murfin, a senior from Highland; and Brooke Wheeler, a sophomore from Clark County.
Sara Riley, a sophomore from Putnam County, was honored as a utility player/ designated hitter.
Putnam County defeated Schuyler County in the district championship game. The Lady Midgets lost in the opening round of the state playoffs to Palmyra, who went on to win the Class 2 Missouri state championship.
