Lady Tigers Fall 45-31 in Novinger Tourney Semifinals

A big third period run and huge free throw discrepancy proved too much for the Scotland County girls basketball team to overcome as Brashear derailed the Tigers 45-31 in the semifinals of the Novinger Tournament.

The #3 seeded Tigers upset SCR-I thanks in large part to the charity stripe. Brashear shot 36 free throws on the night. Despite just converting 50-percent of the free throws, Brashear took advantage of foul trouble on SCR-I, to turn a 14-12 half time lead into a more comfortable 29-20 lead with just eight minutes to play.

Brashear put the game away, outscoring the Lady Tigers 16-11 in the fourth period to improve to 3-0 on the year and advance.

SCR-I dropped to 1-2 on the season and will take on the #1 seed, Novinger in the third place game after the host squad was upset in the other semifinal.

Kirsten Johnston led Scotland County with 12 points. Kaitlin Caldwell added seven points and Kelsey Frazier finished with six points.
