Mailbox Vandals Strike Again

With arrests pending in a two-county vandalism spree that left approximately 60 mailboxes destroyed, the Scotland County Sheriff’s Department opened another investigation this weekend.

Sheriff Wayne Winn reported two mailboxes were damaged by gunshots. The vandalism occurred the evening of February 22nd or the morning of February 23rd in rural Scotland County southwest of Rutledge.

Investigators don’t believe the two cases are related, as arrests are pending in the February 9th incident that left roughly 30 mailboxes in Scotland County destroyed and a similar number vandalized in Schuyler County.

Anyone with information regarding the latest incident is asked to contact the sheriff’s department at 465-2106.
