More NEMO Area Highway Improvements on the Way
MACON - Although the maintenance and construction season is still a few weeks away, that doesnít mean that MoDOT hasnít been busy this winter gearing up to bring new projects to north central Missouri.
MoDOT had earlier announced the replacement of the Missouri River Bridge at Glasgow and major resurfacing projects on Route 63 in Adair, Macon and Randolph Counties, along with the continuing four-lane projects on Route 36.
Several additional contracts have been awarded this winter that will resurface pavements and rehabilitate and replace bridges. All of these projects will begin this spring or summer and will be completed this fall.
In addition to the Highway 63 upgrades, another area project that will impact local readers will be the Highway 136 bridge replacements.
MoDOT awarded a $1.6 million contract to Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc. to replace bridges over the Chariton River east of the county line between Schuyler and Putnam counties. The bridges will be closed to traffic for approximately three months forcing traffic to detour to Route 149 to Highway 6 and Highway 63.
Route 6 in Adair, Sullivan, and Knox counties also will experience upgrades this summer. MoDOT approved a $1.8 million contract with Chester Bross Construction Company to resurface 37 miles of the highway from Green City to the Edina.
