County Health Department Sponsoring Walk To Branson
Come join us in the fight against heart disease, diabetes, stroke, high blood pressure and colon cancer. Exercise and a healthy diet are two of the best ways to protect yourself against many chronic diseases.
The Scotland County Health Department in partnership with the Scotland County Fitness Center and the Missouri Foundation For Health, a non-profit philanthropic organization whose vision is to improve the health of the community it serves is sponsoring a walk to Branson. It is open to all Scotland County residents. You do not need to have a fitness center membership to participate.
The eight-week pedometer walking program will start on April 2nd at 6:15 p.m. at the Scotland County Fitness Center. Prior to that meeting you will need to call the Health Department at 660-465-7275 to sign up and more arrangements to get your pedometer. At that time your stride will be calculated.
They will meet weekly at 6:15 p.m. at the Fitness Center to walk one mile and tally our weekly steps. Your trip progress will be displayed on the Missouri map wall at the Fitness Center. It is 335 miles to Branson. Thatís approximately 12,000 steps a day.
Youíll be surprised how the steps add up. Wear your pedometer all day long. All those who participate will be entered in a drawing at the end of the eight weeks to win 3 days/2 nights and 4 show tickets at Branson, MO. Come and join the fun. The more the merrier. See you there!
