Lightning Strike Results in Hay Fire

The brilliant electrical storm on display Monday evening and Tuesday morning resulted in one reported fire in Scotland County.

The Scotland County Fire Department was dispatched to the Larry Jackson farm south of Memphis at approximately 6:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 3rd. A lightning strike had ignited a row of hay bales at the farm.

Eleven firemen answered the call with three fire trucks. They were on the scene approximately 20 minutes. Two hay bales were destroyed by the fire.
