Golf Course to Host Croquet Tournament on Saturday

Timber Ridge is hoping the popularity of a back-yard game will carry over to the golf course as the Memphis country club will host its first ever croquet tournament on Saturday, June 21st.

“This gives us an opportunity to reach out to non-golfers and try to get them involved at the course,” said Timber Ridge board member Bob Courtright. “This is something new we are trying to get more people involved at the golf course.”

The event will feature four different courses of play. Three-person teams will compete beginning at 2:00 p.m. The cost of the event is $20 per person, with 80% of the entry fees being paid back as prize money.

Organizers indicated a good turnout for the event could lead to further tournaments or even possibly the creation of a croquet league.

For more information on the event contact the golf course at 883-5341 or Gary Dial at 465-7012.
