More Bang For Your Buck – Region to Host Two Fireworks Shows

The local sky will be filled not once, but twice with community fireworks programs to help community members celebrate Independence Day.

Once again, the Scotland County Fireworks show will be hosted by the Catfish Place on Highway 136 near Arbela. The show will get started at dusk on Friday, July 4th. The event is sponsored by area businesses and donors who help make it one of the best shows around.

If that’s not enough flash and bang for the pyrotechnics fans out there, the community of Downing will host its 8th annual Independence Day Celebration on Saturday, July 5th at the Downing Appreciation Days Park.

The event will start at 6:00 p.m. with a hog roast with all sides and drinks provided for a free will offering.

“The biggest display around for a little American town,” will follow at dusk.

The event is sponsored by the Downing Fire Department.

The public is encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and enjoy the show.
